The culture of the Guanches reaches of Art History Museum in Montevideo

Friday, December 25, 06:49 AM Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Dec 25 (EFE) .- A sample of the Guanches, the inhabitants of the Canary Island of Tenerife, which includes reproductions and videos on the mummies of the Aboriginal and engravings rock, will become part of the permanent collection of the Museum of History of Art in Montevideo (Uruguay). The exhibition "The Guanches" will remain open until March 2010 in that Uruguayan center, which opened on 17 December, and has been submitted by the Archaeological Museum of Tenerife, part of the Autonomous Organization of Museums and the Chapter of the island. The show has enjoyed the cooperation of the financial institution CajaCanarias and at completion, in March 2010, will become part of the Uruguayan museum's permanent collection "as a faithful representation of this period of Canarian culture," says the Cabildo of Tenerife in a statement. The exhibit consists of seventeen panels exhibition which gathers various aspects of the world Guanche and 30 reproductions of original pieces representative of their material culture. All this is complemented with four videos where there are different aspects of the life of the primordial population of Tenerife: The Guanches, mummies, Cave paintings and industries: ceramics, stone, bone and skin.
