Geffen album launch of Benedict XVI
Entertainment News Reporter Thursday July 30, 11:02 PM LONDON (AP) - Pope Benedict XVI will release an album in which he sings and recites prayers to the Virgin Mary, on Friday reported record label Geffen / Universal. The album of the pontiff, who still has no title, also includes eight original pieces of contemporary classical music, said the stamp. The Pope is accompanied by the Choir of the Philharmonic Academy of Rome, and the recording was made in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. The original compositions were performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and was recorded in Abbey Road studios in London. The record is not an initiative of the Vatican, but of Multimedia San Paolo, an Italian Catholic media. The revenue will go to the musical education of poor children around the world. The album will be released on November 30. Benedict is not the first pope to make creative efforts to disk. Last year, the tenor Plácido Domingo recorded an album with poems of the late John Paul II.
